My favorite resorts for night skiing during Spring Break

Essential rules to make sure you enjoy a family ski outing

My favorite resorts for night skiing during Spring Break

Eastern Townships

Bromont

Because it is only a 50-minute drive from Montreal and its reputation is well established. The illuminated evening ski trails represent 70% of the skiable area, which means that almost the entire mountain can be skied both during the day and at night, making it the largest night skiing area in North America. Open until 10pm Sunday to Thursday and until 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Why go during Spring Break? For après-ski parties and ticket price at $49 for an evening of skiing, from 5pm until closing time and a show. Saturday March 5th is Après Ski Fouki night: Outdoor music show with none other than Fouki! On March 12th, it's Louis-Jean Cormier. Combo music show and ski, only in Quebec!

Quebec

Stoneham

The proximity of this resort to Quebec City (20 minutes) is so convenient. Evening skiing goes until 9:30 pm, 7 days a week, whether it's Spring Break or not. The choice of trails for night skiing is varied and what I like the most is that there are 3 snow parks and an Olympic half-pipe (the only one in Quebec), which is open for evening skiing. You can always try to imitate our Olympians on skis or snowboard! In fact, in one of the snow parks, they inaugurated at the beginning of the season, the Laurie Blouin section since she is an athlete from Stoneham. The three-module section represents her interests and tastes in slopestyle and everyone is invited to try it.

Le Relais

This other mountain near Quebec City, at Lac Beauport, is mostly family friendly and has evening ski hours to cater to smaller families. Open 7 days a week until 8:30 pm, this will be a busy place during Spring Break, for sure!

Laurentians

Sommet St-Sauveur

Unlike other Laurentian mountains that offer evening skiing on weekends only, at Sommet St-Sauveur it's open 7 days a week until 10pm until March 27th. The evening skiing area is very extensive, almost the entire mountain is lit up with a view of the St-Sauveur Valley. With the proximity of the village offering so many choices, it's a great evening guaranteed. A little extra that I find interesting, is that you can take lessons in the evening, and they have a brand new and sophisticated Intro-Plus learning area to learn skiing at any age. Beginners are welcome at any time of the day or night!

Lanaudière

Val St-Côme

In the evening, we are talking about a single lift that serves 8 trails for this resort located at about 1.5h from Montreal. There is a brand-new chalet, renovated 2 years ago and several lodging options at the bottom of the slopes. This is a resort to discover.

For Spring Break, evening skiing is offered from Wednesday to Sunday until 9pm.

Montérégie

Mont Rigaud

About a 40-minute drive from the island of Montreal, heading West, this small and friendly resort offers 14 of its 15 trails for evening skiing, 7 days a week, at all times, open until 9pm. Ticket purchase is online only. This family resort has kept a nice friendly spirit and it's perfect for an evening outing with children and teens.

Ski St-Bruno

Another classic place very close from the city, only 20 minutes from Montreal, the Mecca of beginners, is St-Bruno. There are 18 trails that are 100% lit and you can ski at night 7 days a week until 10pm. A stop at the Après-Ski Pub (if measurements permit!) is a must. Online purchase required for lift tickets and equipment rentals.
