Essential rules to make sure you enjoy a family ski outing

There are many reasons why one adopt a ski resort over another and wants to return. It all starts with the welcome, the parking and the proximity between your car and the lift. Every time I go to Ski Montcalm in Rawdon in the Lanaudière region, I love the fact that it's really close to the city - 45 minutes away from Montreal, even less if you live in the east bound. But especially the very short distance between the car and the lift. When I have to carry the children’s equipment from the parking lot to the bottom of the trail, I am always delighted by the accessibility and the layout of the place. It's always a good start to my day! The ticket booth is located right at the entrance of the site, then you have the choice between the learning hill on the left to loosen up your legs if it's been a while since you've been on skis, or the chair that leads to the top on the right. Between the two, there is the reception chalet which has been completely renovated. It is super modern, bright and inviting to warm up or to have a bite to eat. It is a resort that charms us every time.

There is a very present family atmosphere, probably due to the fact that Mr. Tadek Barnowski, from Poland, was passing through the area more than 50 years ago, discovered the place, decided to clear and install lifts. He has now passed the torch to his daughter and son who are keen to maintain the tradition and manage to offer exceptional conditions and a truly enjoyable experience. With 25 trails on 4 sides and more than 8 lifts, (that's a lot for a small resort!) there is no waiting at the lifts. And that's what makes this place famous, in addition to the good Polish sausages offered at the charming bistro of the resort!

The new covered conveyor belt is great as well as the area dedicated to lessons and learning. They are well stocked with equipment and there is a good team of certified instructors to give you lessons for your very first turns.
